I was born in Sheffield in 1980. I first picked up the guitar when I was 14: quite a late bloomer in guitar playing terms. Not that any age can't begin learning. I had a few lessons - maybe half a dozen - but I was ultimately determined to teach myself how to play. This I achieved in two ways: 1) by systematically devouring the entire discography of Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, and many more. 2) By TEACHING it myself. I can't overstate enough how much of an impact teaching the guitar has had on my development as a musician.

My teaching career began sometime around 2000 and completely by chance. A family friend said to me "Hey Steve, you play the guitar, don't you? Can you pop round and show our Liam how to play a few chords? I'll pay you!" And so it began. Within a few weeks Liam's friend Alex got in touch to ask if I could do the same for him...and then Alex's friend Jack...then his brother Joe....You get the idea. I'm very proud to say that I have NEVER advertised. My entire career has been borne on word of mouth.

Within a few years, I'd got more enquiries for tuition than I had spare time for and I finally took the plunge to become a full-time professional musician in 2005. As I am one of those people for whom variety is the spice of life, I can be found in several musical projects all at once, alongside my teaching.

Firstly I offer a wide range of teaching of the GUITAR, BASS & UKULELE. I teach Peripatetically around schools in Derbyshire, UK as well as privately via online platforms.

Over the course of the past ten years + I have been working on my comprehensive tuition guide for guitar: THE EVERYTHING GUIDE TO LEARNING GUITAR which can be viewed here. This guide takes students from Beginners To Advanced and can be tailored specifically to the needs of each individual student. I am very proud of it.

So whether you wish to become a rock star in your own living room, an acoustic singer-songwriter playing your own material, a lead guitar hero, be a complete musician up to Grade 8 standard, go on to teach guitar yourself, or maybe you're just struggling with that one solo and need a bit of help, or something in between all of the above? I can tailor lessons to suit your requirements. I've taught students not much taller than my wait all the up to retirement age. It's never too late to start. So please contact me today.

In my other musical life I lead the Progressive Rock band "STEVE FLETCHER & THE ANGELS OF MERCY", I record and perform solo as THE BREADED CHURCHMAN and I am constantly trying to purge my obsessive love for Pink Floyd in a variety of Tribute acts.

If that wasn't enough, I regularly perform in pit bands for musical productions. In the past, these have included "WE WILL ROCK YOU", "GREASE", "OUR HOUSE", "THE SOUND OF MUSIC", "GUYS & DOLLS", and "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS" to name a few.

I am also happy to record parts as studio session work. Such as the gentle slide heard at the end of "PITLOCHRY" or the lead guitar of "RIDING IN AMERICA" by Anthony John Clarke. Or really letting it all hand out in this great cover of "THE THRILL IS GONE".

I hope you enjoy your visit to my website and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
